Sole Trader or Limited Company?
We are often asked which is best way to set up in business. For example, should I be a Sole Trader or a Limited Company? There are many things to consider. Whilst Sole Traders tend to have less administrative paperwork and lower costs there can be greater risks to your personal finances when things go wrong. Alternatively Limited Companies have less risk, greater administrative burdens and cost but can be more tax efficient. Which vehicle you choose will depend on your personal circumstances and the goals and ambitions for your business. We recently helped a sole trader look at his business as if he were a limited company. The end result was a decision to change to a limited company, PJC would help with the additional administrative paperwork and the sole trader gained a 34% reduction in his tax liability. Sage, Xero & Quick Books
Supporting our clients is a key part of how we operate at PJC and part of that means keeping abreast of developments in the accounting software market. To that end we are pleased to announce that PJC Accounting has recently become certified partners and agents for “Xero” and we are currently Bronze Pro Advisors for “Quick Books”. Added to our Partner Plus status with “Sage Accounting” then we think we are well placed to support our clients accounting software needs.
Sage One Accredited Advisor &Sage Accountant Partner Plus
Sage One is the new Cloud based accounting software. The great thing is that we can see what our clients see. This means we can help with any issues and queries more easily. Also, as we are an accredited Sage Partner there are a number of additional benefits which we can share with out clients. For example a reduced rate for Sage Licences. Virtual Cabinet & Portal
PJC is going paperless with the aid of some specialist software called Virtual Cabinet. Not only does this mean we will have a lot more space in our office and not have the cost of off site storage; it also means we will be able to access all of our clients files, accounts information and correspondence online via secure login. Clients will be able to complete their tax return online using an approved electronic signature which will then be uploaded to the HMRC.
